Medical Writer

We are a new fertility website, www.fertilitywise.com We ensure evidence-based research is available in easy-to-read articles, explaining the latest and greatest in research development surrounding fertility. Our company ethos revolves around a passion for factual and scientific information that helps patients with their fertility-related decision-making.

We are looking for an individual to join our writing team, someone to join researchers and other writers in working in a collaborative environment with people who have different levels of subject matter expertise in fertility topics.

Job Responsibilities

This role requires taking medical research and turning it into articles targeted at a layperson audience. A medical background is not required but may be helpful. An understanding of fertility concepts and terms, highly recommended. While the key medical points from research studies will be provided, the writer will take those points and create articles with good sentence structure and flow, adding transitions as needed for optimal readability.  

You will work with the research and editing teams to check references and their formatting, and to request additional research if needed.

Who are we looking for?

This role is suitable for someone with the following qualifications:

• An individual with outstanding writing skills and the ability to write about research findings for a more generalized (non-researcher) audience. Enjoys describing scientific concepts in easy-to-understand language.
• You are passionate about evidence-based research, including presenting contradictory findings in an unbiased and balanced format.
• You are able to work independently as well as with a wider team.
• Attention to detail is your passion.
• Organizational and communication skills are important to the role. This includes strong project management skills.
• Education level should be at the bachelor's level.

Other details

The assignments will be provided on an ongoing basis. This is a flexible contract position, and the work is remote (we work in a virtual office). We anticipate the role taking approximately 5-10 hours per week. You will have access to a database of full-text journal articles. You will be required to sign a proprietary information agreement.

You will need to supply your own laptop and WiFi to access the online virtual office.  

Renumeration will be paid on an hourly basis, at a rate negotiable based on experience.
